BPC-157 (body protection compound-157) is a partial sequence derived from a cytoprotective protein found in gastric juice, and it has been investigated for its role in several signaling pathways in preclinical models. A recurring theme in the literature is angiogenesis: research has examined BPC-157 in association with vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2), reporting VEGFR2 activation and up-regulation in endothelial cell systems.1 Related work has investigated its interaction with the Src–caveolin-1–endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) pathway as a proposed mechanism underlying its effects on vasomotor tone.2 Through this nitric-oxide axis, the compound shares a pathway of interest with other nitric-oxide-modulating agents studied in vascular research.
