DSIP is a nonapeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) first isolated in 1977 from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits. It has since been detected in the brain, peripheral tissues and body fluids of several species, yet no dedicated precursor gene or receptor has been identified, which keeps it an open question in neuropeptide biology. Laboratories use DSIP as a reference peptide in neuroendocrine and neuropeptide-signaling research.
Specifications: lyophilized powder · 5 mg per vial · purity and salt form confirmed on the lot-specific certificate of analysis, published on our Lab Results page when the lot is released · store at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture.
What form is DSIP supplied in?
A lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder in a sealed 5 mg vial. Salt form, purity and identity data are listed on the certificate of analysis for each lot.
How should the vial be stored?
Keep the sealed vial at −20 °C, away from light and moisture, until use.
Is this product for human or veterinary use?
No. It is sold strictly for in vitro and laboratory research. Not for human or animal use.
All compounds referenced are supplied for laboratory and research applications only and are not for human consumption.
DSIP has been studied for almost five decades, and the literature is notable for how much remains unresolved. An early comprehensive review catalogued its distribution across tissues, its structural features and the broad range of physiological systems in which it had been examined, from neuroendocrine regulation to stress-response models.1
A later critical review revisited that work and concluded that, despite a large body of experimental data, the peptide’s natural origin, gene and receptor were still unknown. That gap is the main reason DSIP remains of interest: it is a short, well-defined sequence whose biological role has not been pinned down.2
Not for human or animal use. Research laboratory use only.
