Copper-tripeptide complex supplied for copper-binding, matrix-signaling and gene-expression research models.

GHK-Cu is the copper(II) complex of the naturally occurring human tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine (Gly-His-Lys). It is supplied here as 50 mg and 100 mg lyophilized powder (≥99% HPLC-verified) for qualified laboratory research applications only. The tripeptide has a high binding affinity for copper ions, and the resulting GHK-Cu complex is the form most widely characterized in the research literature on extracellular-matrix biology, fibroblast activity, and copper-dependent signaling. Precision Research Peptides supplies GHK-Cu strictly as a research reagent with batch-specific Certificate of Analysis support.

GHK was first identified as a component of human plasma and has since been investigated for its role in copper coordination and transport, where the tripeptide’s histidine and terminal amine positions chelate copper(II) to form the GHK-Cu complex.1 Much of the primary literature examines GHK-Cu in models of extracellular-matrix biology: study systems have reported its association with the balance of matrix metalloproteinases and their tissue inhibitors (MMP / TIMP), and with the synthesis of collagen and glycosaminoglycans in cultured fibroblast models — the pathways commonly grouped under extracellular-matrix remodeling.1,2 Research has also examined GHK-Cu in the context of copper-dependent oxidative-stress pathways, where it has been studied as a modulator of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory signaling in cellular oxidative-stress models.3 More recent transcriptomic analysis has characterized GHK’s association with broad gene-expression modulation, reporting changes across large numbers of genes implicated in extracellular-matrix and cell-signaling pathways in the datasets examined.4 These findings position GHK-Cu primarily as a subject of mechanistic and matrix-biology research rather than any applied use.
