Tesa is a synthetic, stabilized analog of growth-hormone-releasing hormone, GHRH(1-44), modified with a trans-3-hexenoic acid group that increases resistance to enzymatic degradation. It acts as an agonist at the growth-hormone-releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR) on pituitary somatotrophs and is classified within the GHRH-analog family. In the research setting described here, Tesa is supplied strictly as a reference material for in vitro and preclinical laboratory investigation of GHRH-receptor pharmacology and somatotropic-axis signaling by qualified professionals. Not for human or animal use. Research laboratory use only.
All compounds referenced are supplied for laboratory and research applications only and are not for human consumption.
Tesa is a stabilized analog of GHRH(1-44) in which an N-terminal trans-3-hexenoic acid modification reduces susceptibility to enzymatic cleavage, extending the peptide’s stability relative to native growth-hormone-releasing hormone. Its molecular target is the growth-hormone-releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR), a pituitary G protein–coupled receptor whose cloning and characterization established the receptor basis for GHRH signaling in somatotrophs.1
In laboratory settings, Tesa is used as a reference agonist at this receptor. Investigators compare it with native GHRH and shorter GHRH fragments in receptor-binding, cAMP-accumulation and peptide-stability assays to characterize how N-terminal modification affects receptor activation and resistance to proteolysis.
